Cambodia Casinos

There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the border from neighboring Thailand, where gambling den wagering is not permitted. Eight casinos are established in a generally small location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime spot, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing income gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few controls constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; still, investment sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are for all intents and purposes required to cross, there are methods around this, as is true of most borders.

The original Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are 150 one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the common gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around resort and hotel building that contains many luxuries on top of the gambling den, which houses 10,000 square feet of 130 slot machines and eighty eight tables.
