Cambodia Casinos

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which casino wagering is against the law. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect destination, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of restrictions requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; although, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 17:00, and though visas are apparently necessary to cross, there are means around this, as is correct of most border crossings.

The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge casino, features 150 slots and sixty gaming tables. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the familiar table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel compound that highlights many luxuries aside from the gambling den, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and 88 gaming tables.
