Cambodia Casinos

There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the border from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall betting is prohibited. Eight casinos are based in a relatively small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime location, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; however, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 17:00, and though visas are apparently necessary to cross, there are means around this, as is true of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau casino, highlights 150 one armed bandits and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machines and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel building that contains many conveniences aside from the casino, which houses ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 gaming tables.
